The concept of Hell in the Old Testament is expressed in the word Sheol and pit, according to the context. Study the language of Isaiah 14:14-15 which is attributed to Satan.

(14) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.  (15)  Yet thou shalt be brought down to Sheol, to the uttermost parts of the pit. Isaiah 14:14-15 ASV

For Sheol cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.  Isaiah 38:18 ASV

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, whither thou goest.  Ecclesiastes 9:10 ASV

The use of Sheol in the PENTATEUCH (Moses) is synonymous to grave.

  • (31) it will come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants will bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to Sheol.
